The Australian Bureau of Meteorology is predicting a long hot Summer ahead, with the season expected to be warmer and drier than average.

Locals are being encouraged to utilise the facilities at the Olympic Pool in Swan St Wangaratta as a “good Summer option.”

The Olympic Pool opens on Saturday 24 November, followed by a Summer launch Day on Sunday 25 November featuring the Giant pool inflatable and waterslide.

The Olympic Pool, will be open 1.30pm to 7.00pm on weekends, and 4.00pm to 7.00pm weekdays during the school term.

Maree Warnett, manager of the Wangaratta Indoor Sports & Aquatic Centre, says that the pool and surrounds were looking in top shape ready for the season ahead.

“We’re preparing for a bumper season as temperatures have already started to increase and are predicted to be above average this summer.”

Ms Warnett says the Olympic Pool team is keen to see the town’s families and youth utilise the outdoor facilities, enjoying some physical activity together in and out of the pool.

“We love seeing the kids and families enjoying a game of cricket on the lawn and then cooling off together in the water – just having fun.”

Season passes are available now, which also provide access to the indoor facility during Olympic Pool hours if it is closed due to adverse weather.

Current YMCA Swimming Lesson members can enjoy free entry to the outdoor pool all season.

The first day of operation at Olympic Pool is Saturday 24 November from 1.30pm.  Entry is $4.60 for adults and $3.20 for children.

Access to the waterslide on Sunday 25 November and future “Sunday Fundays” is $6.80 including pool entry, $3.60 for YMCA Swimming lesson members and season pass holders.
